Privacy Policy
This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website, including the free Will & LPA Check and the callback request.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Will & LPA Check UK, an independent information and enquiry service for people in England & Wales. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
2. What we collect
When you take the free check we record the answers you select. We do not ask for your name or contact details in order to show you your result.
If you request a free human check we collect:
- your telephone number;
- the answers you gave during the check, and the result generated from them;
- a record of the agreement you gave, and when you gave it;
- your name and email address, if a future version of this form asks for them.
We also record limited technical and campaign information: the page you arrived on, the advertisement or link that referred you (including campaign parameters such as utm_source and click identifiers such as fbclid), your device type, and a one-way hashed form of your IP address used only to limit automated abuse of the form.
3. What the check does not do
The check does not search the Office of the Public Guardian, HM Land Registry, any government database, any Will registry or any other external record. Your result is generated only from the answers you give us.
4. How we use your information
- To generate and show you your check result.
- To contact you about the enquiry you have made.
- To pass your enquiry to an appropriate estate-planning provider who can discuss your options with you, where you have agreed to this.
- To keep the website secure and prevent automated abuse of our forms.
- To understand how our advertising performs, where you have accepted analytics and advertising cookies.
5. Our lawful bases
- Consent — for contacting you about your enquiry, for sharing your details with an estate-planning provider, and for non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for keeping the site secure, preventing automated submissions, and keeping records of enquiries we have handled.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep records to comply with the law.
6. Who we share it with
Where you have agreed, we share your enquiry with an estate-planning provider so they can contact you to discuss your options. We also use service providers who host this website and deliver our email.
7. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records for no longer than is necessary for the purposes described above.
8. Where your information is held
Our website hosting is provided by SiteGround. Where any provider processes personal data outside the UK, we take steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection.
9. Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, to ask for it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113.
11. Cookies
See our Cookie Policy for the cookies and similar technologies used on this website, and how to change your choices.
